Yours Truly
To truly live is to take full responsibility for living. To richly live is to exercise that responsibility with love in every moment.
The greatest gift that God has given me starts on the 22nd day of March 1991. I’m enjoying it for 21 years as of now and as I grow, I am becoming grateful to God for the other gifts He provided for us in this world. One of those is the beautiful Nature – the mountains, forests, seas, lakes, rivers, falls and many wonderful resources. Unfortunately, humans are abusing its beauty. Instead of preserving and conserving it, the nature has been destroyed. That is why I choose the field where I am now. I am a 4th year BS Ecotourism at Mindanao State University-Marawi City and determined to be one of the people who want to save the Mother Earth. Actually, I dream of owning a resort someday where people can appreciate the beauty of nature and they will be encouraged to take care of it.
People run for several reasons. Some people run for their lives; some for their living; some for other person’s life; and some might be for no reason at all.
I am the kind of person who never used to run. People see me as weakling. Many said that I have been pampered so much by my parents, the reason I can’t stay too long under the heat of the sun. But for me, I am not like that. Well, to prove them wrong, I decided to take BS Ecotourism. Taking this course is really my decision because I know this is what I want and it will prove the people wrong about me. My parents didn’t even agree to me to take this course. But since they don’t have choice, they have to support me.
I’ve started to run for the path I choose to go; I’ve run for the decision I have made. Along the way, there are a lot of bumps, holes and opportunities I encountered. Fortunately, I’ve been chosen to be one of the 20 youth who participated on 2007 ACCESS-Philippine Youth Leadership Program at Dekalb, Illinois, USA. The experience and my ACCESS family will last in my heart forever. I’ve also had chances on attending other leadership trainings and workshops in our University. Student League for Academic Advancement and Progress (19SLAAP83) is one of semi-academic organizations in our school and the oldest. Being able to survive and be a member of this organization is one of my achievements in life. With the trainings we had in the organization I have made it to be the President of our Maguindanaon Tribe organization in the whole University, the Lumpingan (“shelter”) on A.Y. 2011-2012. As I finish my term, I felt so grateful to have this wonderful experience, to be able to lead and guide my kababayans (co-Maguindanaon) for one academic year.
With all the things I had experience so far, I realize that everything in this World is interconnected. Nothing completely exists without the others. Being a Peace advocate, a leader and an Ecotourism student are the things that made me who I am; that made my philosophies in life; and that will make me to be one of M.A.D.’s – Making A Difference! To all Maguindanaons and concerned individuals, Province of Maguindanao needs US!
Dream BIG, but take SMALL steps.
With determination and faith with Almighty ALLAH, I know everything will be alright. Yes! I am ambitious, a fighter with my own identity and a lady from the province of Maguindanao. I am SHERYAN PENDALIDAY GUIALEL.#shye
